On this occasion, UNESCO wishes to recall the importance of dialogue and cooperation in the field of water, whether surface or underground, liquid or frozen.
Sustainable water management generates a host of benefits for people and communities, including health, food and energy security, protection from natural hazards, education, improved living standards and employment, economic development and a variety of ecosystem services.
It is through these benefits that water leads to prosperity. And the equitable distribution of these benefits promotes peace. When it comes to water, sharing is truly caring.
Today, more than ever, we must unite in protecting our water sources, promoting conservation, and adopting sustainable practices to ensure equitable and safe access to water for all, now and in the future.
